How to Reach Tetouan and Travel Around Northern Morocco

Tetouan enjoys a strategic location in Northern Morocco, close to Tangier, the Mediterranean and the main resorts of Tamuda Bay. Several routes provide access to the region depending on your departure point, available time and preferred level of comfort.
Arriving by air
Tetouan–Sania R’mel Airport is the closest airport to the city. Its flight schedule varies by season, so available connections should be checked when planning your trip.
Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport is the main alternative. From Tangier, Tetouan is accessible by road, and the Mediterranean coast can then be reached easily towards Martil, Cabo Negro, M’diq, Restinga and Fnideq.
Arriving by train
The railway network connects Tangier with several major Moroccan cities. Tetouan does not have a railway station, so the final part of the journey must be completed by car, taxi or private transfer. This combination is often convenient for travellers arriving from Rabat, Casablanca or Kenitra.
Travelling from Europe by ferry
Ferry services connect southern Europe with ports in Northern Morocco, particularly Tanger Med. The ferry is especially practical for travellers wishing to bring their own vehicle. Timetables, boarding conditions and required documents should be confirmed directly with the operators before departure.
Getting around the region
Small taxis are suitable for short urban journeys. Between Tetouan and the coastal destinations, shared taxis, car hire and private transfers are the most common solutions. During the summer season, allow additional time on the roads towards Martil, M’diq and Fnideq.
Organise efficient property viewings
If your stay includes several viewings, group them by area. One day can be devoted to Tetouan, another to Cabo Negro and Martil, and a third to M’diq, Restinga and Tamuda Bay. This approach makes it easier to compare the atmosphere, distances and quality of the residences.
